Where is the Church of Jesus Christ?

A call for prayer…

Posted in The Church by whereisthechurch on November 5, 2009

I don’t think I shall make any further posts on this blog – at least not in the format of pointing out errors in the Church.

Sometimes in the Christian life, when you go against God, you end up learning your lesson the hard-way. I can tell you now: I’m learning the hard way.

Instead of criticising the Church, I should have been spending that time agonising and weeping over it. I put my hands up to my error, my sin and my folly. Yes, perhaps there are problems within the Church, but then, there are problems with me too. We are only human and we can but err.

So, dear reader, I ask you now to bow your head in prayer for a Church which has wandered far away from it’s Shepherd and is in desperate need of a spirit-led revival. I mean what I say, it’s very easy for us to say ‘Oh yes, I’ll pray for that’ – and then other things cause our good intentions to be pushed to the back of our minds! I PLEAD with you to bow your knee to-night and pray for a Church which has lost it’s way. We are at a crisis point. The coming of the Lord draweth nigh (James 5:8).

If I can ask one more favour of you: Pray for this author. I have sinned against God, and now find myself at a low-point. I humbly ask for your prayers and support as I go through a rather painful experience in the Christian life. I thank my Lord for showing me my sin and ask that you will remember me in your prayers as I try to make a difference in this life and glorify God in all that I do.

Please pray for the Church, and please pray for me.

I don’t think I can add any comment to this, the song, and it’s lyrics stand for themselves.

A fearful verse…

Posted in Bible, The Church by whereisthechurch on October 26, 2009

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews 10:31

A great verse to illuminate the folly of sin and the sinner themselves. Altough, perhaps we, despite our eternal salvation, would do well to remember this verse also!

A little clip…

Found this little clip to-day. I think it brilliantly captures and contrasts the raw, pure passion of Leonard Ravenhill and the irreverent, ungodly nature of the modern ‘preachers’ cluttering our congregations and leading the flock astray.

Wise words from Paris Reidhead

“If I had my way, I would declare a moratorium on public preaching of ‘the plan of salvation’ in America for one to two years. Then I would call on everyone who has use of the airways and the pulpits to preach the holiness of God, the righteousness of God and the law of God, until sinners would cry out, ‘What must we do to be saved?’ Then I would take them off in a corner and whisper the gospel to them. Such drastic action is needed because we have gospel-hardened a generation of sinners by telling them how to be saved before they have any understanding why they need to be saved.”

Not for the modern, ‘relevant’ church.

You’ll not hear or read lyrics like this in any modern, ‘relveant’ church. I wonder why?

Am I a soldier of the cross,
A foll’wer of the Lamb?
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His name?
Must I be carried to the skies
On flow’ry beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize,
And sailed through bloody seas?

Are there no foes for me to face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?
Sure I must fight if I would reign;
Increase my courage, Lord,
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy word.

I looked for the Church,

and I found it in the world.

I looked for the world,

and I found it in the Church.

Who needs drums and guitars?

Posted in CCM, Music, The Church by whereisthechurch on March 15, 2009

It seems that nowadays, churches want to be modern, relevant and entertaining when it comes to the subject of music. These are three things which Christ never required of His Church and never ordained. Perhaps this was becase there was never any need for drums and guitars when man’s voice can create such beautiful sounds and harmonies by itself.

O the night of time shall soon pass away,
When the Lord shall come for me;
When the pilgrim’s staff shall be laid aside,
When the Lord shall come for me.

Chorus:

When the Lord shall come for me,
And His nail pierced hands I see,
Will my soul be washed in His precious blood,
When the Lord shall come for me.

O the happy day that shall gild the hills,
When the Lord shall come for me;
O the happy hearts that shall welcome Him,
When the Lord shall come for me.

(Chorus)

What a joyful time when the earth shall gleam,
When the Lord shall come for me;
When the saints shall sing unto Christ, their King,
When the Lord shall come for me.

(Chorus)

What more needs to be said?

(Apologies for the images within video, not much I can do about it.)

Perverted men.

I don’t think there are any other words that could describe those prunes in government who want to make ’sex education’ compulsary for children as young as five. Imagine teaching a 5-year old about sexuality and intercourse! How much lower can those in power sink?

It also serves as a notice to Christian parents – get your children out of that wicked public education system before it’s too late!

Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
